An accomplished trial attorney, Randy is a fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America, a distinction offered to less than one percent of American lawyers, for superior ethical representation and effectiveness and accomplishment in litigation at both the trial and appellate levels. He is also well recognized for his success in the courtroom, successfully trying over one hundred matters that resulted in a verdict, many of which involved alleged violations of New York State Labor Law (§200, 240, 241(6), and Industrial Code). Additionally, Randy oversees a team of attorneys that specialize in fraud and Special Investigation Unit (SIU) matters for major property and casualty carriers, and has significant experience in complex insurance matters and coverage issues.
Over the last twenty years, Randy has represented many of the largest construction companies in the Northeast, in addition to high profile clients such as actor David Caruso, the New York Yankees, Greyhound Bus Lines, Steven Bochco Productions, and Lloyd’s of London. He often lectures and has written extensively on many insurance and trial related matters, including his recent work, “Litigation Strategies for Defending Claims under the New York State Labor Law.”
Randy began his legal career in 1989 as an Assistant District Attorney at the New York County District Attorney’s office under the direction of Manhattan District Attorney Robert Morgenthau. Initially assigned to the Special Prosecutions Bureau, Randy was responsible for the investigation and prosecution of some of the most important and complex insurance fraud cases. Later, he was promoted to the prestigious Career Criminal Division, in which he was responsible for the prosecution of some of the most violent criminals in the city. During this time, Randy tried many felony cases to successful verdicts.
Prior to law, Randy worked for Newsweek, Inc., where he held the position of Operations Manager for the magazine’s Latin American edition. Responsible for the distribution of the magazine to forty-four countries, Randy oversaw the printing, logistics, and marketing throughout the territory.
